How long did it take you for your pain of incisions to go away

I'm five weeks postoperative today and I have one portal incision that got a reaction to the suture, and so it formed the scab that was preventing it from forming granulation tissue at the base. So, I removed the eschar and put neosporin on it daily and covered it with bandaid so clothes wouldn't bother it, and it is slowly healing up fine, although it may leave a permanent slight depression. But hey, whatever, it's not like I was going to win a beauty contest anyways. :)

I just plan on telling people I was shanked in prison if my incision scars scars are noticeable in the future.

Called my doc today because one of my five incisions, the bigger one, still is tender. Nurse told me that this is perfectly normal 3-4 weeks out, and not to be concerned unless it's oozing, which I guess is good medical advice in general. :)

Hysterical! Mind if I use that story? It's much more interesting.

So is mine & I'm almost 3 Wks out. It's the only scar with dermabond too. My others are nearly vanished!

All the dermabond is off my actual incision marks, but there's some left around the perimeter of each.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
