4 weeks out and really struggling

Recommended Posts

I will be 4 weeks post op tomorrow and am really having a hard time right now. Nothing tastes right, eating is just plain uncomfortable and i have to admit that i am depressed. I knew this was not going to be easy and would take work, but the reality of it all has set in, and i just feel like crying. To top it all off my husband is not being supportive at all. My weight lost should always be more according to him, and when i am down he says "didn't you know it would bee this way?"

I just need some support from people who understand right now.

Thanks for listening to me whine. :P

Eating will get easier, I promise! Don't let anyone get you down, eventually you will start to look and feel amazing! Is your husband overweight? Maybe he is jealous. After I had surgery and started losing weight my husband felt like he needed to go to the gym and diet and surprisingly enough he has stuck with it.

Listen is your husband a specialist? No! And one thing I have learned is everyone is different. I am sorry you are getting no support from mr. Know it all. But this is a big change mentally and physically. All I can say is keep reading as much as u can. It helped me to understand each persons journey is different. I'm sure u had a idea of how it would be but u never fully understand till u in the situation. If u can learn to shrug it off then do so. And come here to talk if u need to!

One thing I did is while I was recoving in the first few weeks is make a recipe book. I put in all the one I could find for puree stage and soft foods. So I have a lot to choose from. That has helped me. And stick with what does taste good and expand from there.

Best of luck!

Stay positive! It will get better, what you are feeling is normal because of the pain, crazy hormones, hardly any food, and this is so entirely different from what you are used to. I cried the first couple of days thinking what have I done? But It will get better. Sorry to hear your husband is not supportive...try to find support group in your area, or here, you will find both good (and not so good) sometimes...but hang in there. Sending happy thoughts your way! Remember You are not alone.

you will be fine in a month or so. i think many of us feel depressed at one point after surgery. i took lots of pain meds and felt very depressed too in the begining. i was thinking what the hell did i do? maybe being heavy wasnt so bad? it gets better i promise, the next phase will be your hubbys jealousy. you will start getting tons of attention, and you will feel your wearing the pants. just assure him hes the only one and youll be fine. gl, im 4 months out now but i fell into bad depression for awhile.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
