Typical days food intake for vets?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking of adding some of these to my green shake. Do they sell them everywhere? Or only healthy stores, cause out here in the boonies, the "health food" section at the local grocery is pretty slim.

I just eat Kellogg brand Bran Buds (similar to their all bran I think, but higher in fiber). I just get them at my local grocery store. I live in Canada, so I am not sure if you have the same in the states or not. I through them in my yogurt too! They are small and crunchy without the "brany" taste to them.

I used to add Fiber one pellets to a lot of dishes and they worked pretty well as far as texture goes. They also make for great fiber muffins. This was before my sleeve but I think I'll do it again in a few months. I am not sure if this is comparable to the fiber mentioned above, but it sounds like it might work.

I eat a bowl of grape nut Cereal. It has great fiber and 8 grams of Protein for a 1/2 cup.

Also love adding it to my yogurt for crunch.

I am happy to see I do not eat way more than others, I find with certain foods I can eat quite a lot.

My typical day is about 1600 calories.

I start with 2 eggs in the morning

Workout

Protein bar and a banana

Veggie Curry

More Veggie curry!

dinner or some sort

More eggs typically

I eat quite often, and recently realized I wasn't getting enough Water, so that is actually a new concept to me- I am getting about 80 ounces a day.

I am 1.2 years out

I am almost a year and a half out (time flies!), and get in around 1200-1500 calories a day. I stopped tracking my calories and Proteins about 4 months ago, but still make quick mental tallies throughout the day. I aim for 60 grams of Protein.

I eat every 2.5 to 3 hours, and keep my portions to around 5 oz.

Early morning: 2 glasses of Water

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, and 2 Andes chocolate mints

Post - breakfast: 2 glasses of Water, half a cup of milk with instant coffee

1st Lunch: 2 oz of low fat cheese with 2 to 3 oz of grapes

Post - lunch: 2 glasses of water, another half cup of milk with instant coffee

2nd Lunch: 4 oz of fruit with 24 gms of PB2

OR 4 oz greek yogurt with 1oz of granola

Post - lunch: 2 glasses of water, another half cup of milk with instant coffee

Dinner: 4 to 5 oz lentils with 1 to 2 oz of cooked veggies

I aim to get in 3 to 4 servings of veggies, so try to include a small amount with at least 3 meals.

If I feel a little low on energy between meals, I turn to nuts or a bit of chocolate.< /p>

I also do low fat muffins and breads every so often.

this has been one of the best posts I have read. I have been thinking that I eat too much and have been hungry.

Typically I will drink a Protein Shake first thing in the morning then an hour later I will eat an egg with cheese and salsa.

I will eat some Heat peanuts for snack.< /span>

For lunch I will eat chicken, make 1/4th slice of Lavash bread made into a pizza with cheese and salami.

for snack 1/2 of a banana

For dinner 2oz of Protein and some veggies or chili with cheese 2.5oz of chili and 1 tbs of cheese.

try not to snack if so some nuts.

I don't believe I have eaten 1 cup of anything except for the rare occasion when I've had flamin hot cheetos....Those go down so easy.. :(

Except for the Cheetos, this sounds like a pretty reasonable vet meal in terms of quantity and quality of food during the day. Do you also exercise daily or often during the week?

My big struggle is getting out to exercise. I walk for about 30 minutes periodically but need to do it every day. This has been my big challenge. When I do walk, I feel pretty good after. So today I will walk. Am looking into some aerobics classes. I need to work on my core. My muscles are really loose. Fiddleman I so admire how you have stuck to a plan and have done really great. Really excited for the Mrs also. :)

You can do it! Just do the best you can with the time you have and start out with smaller goals. You can increase the goals as you drive the habits into a routine that feels natural. Even 15 minutes of exercise will make a big difference on how you feel during the day.

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
