It sounds like it's a good time for a second fill. No restriction enables us to eat more than we would like and slow/stops weight loss. The adjustment part of the band is the best part. It is not a one size fits all. You get to find the perfect sweet spot for you. It apparently takes someone of us longer to get there. I bet you'll have restriction with this second fill.

Don't fret. We are all in this for the long haul right? The long haul is what is important. Setbacks are a normal part of life.

This is what I have suggested to me when I feel discourged. Examine what behaviors I've having been doing that I want to continue doing and which ones you want to alter/delete then, keep on going keeping a positive attitude.

It is the "keeping on going keeping a positive attitude" part that is the most important.

Good luck, keep looking forward.

Carolyn

I was banded June 17, 2004 so I am still new to this. I have not been adjusted yet so I really do not know what that feels like.

I find that when I make an effort to drink lots of Water between my meals, I feel full a lot sooner when I eat than when I do not drink.

I am sorry you are having a hard time but, that is the beauty of the band, it can always be made smaller! Good luck to you I am sure you will get over the hurdle and back on the right track.

Take care,

Gina

Hi Ginny -

In addition to Water loading, a time of inadequate restriction is a great opportunity to eat more challenging foods, like more fibrous vegetables, and tougher meats. Use less lubricant, like sauces. Eat drier meats. I bet if you didn't chew quite as well your pouch would get full faster. You have to be careful with that method, because you don't want to be obstructed, so don't be swallowing things whole!

Good luck, and hang in there until you can get your next adjustment. Do not fret!

Sometimes it'll take a few days for restriction to make itself known...after my last fill I didn't notice any difference at first and then a few days later it was like, bam! restriction!

Some times your fill can take a few days to a week to kick in. My first fill took about a week. Then like Marie ..Bam! Restriction!

Still have it too 6 weeks later...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
