Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, first of all I would like to thank you all for what your doing.

So , i was sleeved on the 13th of Jan . My School started last week, and last day to catch up is the 28th, So I need to fly back to the states (FL) on the 27th which is two weeks post op. Also its a 18 hours flight from Kuwait To FL. So what do you guys think should i drop this course and catch up in May when I get my strength back? Or should I go?

You can go -- but rembr to walk alot during the flight & keep yourself hydrated - sip while walking if possible. I am 4days post op & began school today , the biggest challenge in these few hours has been hydration, telling myself to drink & eat when its necessary

I had a 4 1/2 hour bus rise 2 weeks post op and I was alright. Pain wise I was fine. I would suggest getting up and going to the bathroom every few hours just to keep moving, but I think it's doable. At 2 weeks out 95 percent of my pain was gone, I still had a bit of soreness to the touch but that was it. I think you should be okay just take it easy!

I flew about fourteen hours from San Diego to Germany within three days of my surgery.

Take it easy, walk as much as you can and sip as much Water as possible. Ask the steward to bring you a liter bottle of Water and keep it with you, so you don't have to ring them or wait on them to come by and offer more.

Compression hose might be helpful for your circulation so soon after surgery but that's up to you.

You physically can do it. However, no way was I mentally ready to take a class so soon after my surgery. I was so tired and my brain was in a mental fog. So it depends on how difficult the class is and how do YOU feel physically, emotionally & mentally?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
