Hi everyone!

I'm so excited to have found this board! I'm pre-op and need all the information and support I can get!

I'm still waiting for my initial consultation but I was told to expect a call sometime in February to start the process in likely April. I can't wait! Skinny me here I come!!!

I look forward to chatting with you all! :)

:welcome: Hi - I'm sure you will find this all really helpful. I haven't had mine done yet either but there is a wealth of information here. My first peice of advice is call your insurance company and find out if lapband is covered and what is expected of you. I had to have 6 months of weight loss consults to qualify - you may want to get that started before you go in Feb., it'll give you a jump start. Thats 3 or 4 months, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb you can get out of the way. My friend had gastric bypass and she had taken care of all the pre-op things before she even saw the surgeon so it was March when she saw him and May when she had the surgery. I just got my insurance approval yesterday so I will get my surgery date today. Yipee!:)

Welcome, ~Pam~.

I kinda feel silly saying that, since I'm a newbie here, myself. Welcome, nonetheless.

What I've found helpful is #1) finding these boards, and #2) scouring these boards for information. I've also found quite a few lapband sites online, and I scour them for information as well -- the good, the bad, and the ugly. I want to read everything I can so that I can make an informed decision.

My first consult appointment is this morning at 11:00am. I'm excited.

LEt us know how your journey goes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
