Revision consult tomorrow...sick to my stomach!

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about a revision for a long time now. I've spent soo much time here reading others success stories and some that had complications too. It's finally my turn to go in and meet with the doctor and I'm sick to my stomach thinking about it! I guess it's normal to be apprehensive about such a major surgery but I was not expecting this! If just the consult has me feeling like this I can't imagine how I will feel before surgery!

What are you scared of?! You can't be scared of losing more weight and being successful! Just swallow your nerves and go for it! You will feel so much better after the consult! There is nothing to be terrified of! Best of luck!

It is a scary thought.Especially since we've had one failed surgery already.

But the sleeve is so different. Not easier, but different and it works!

Go for it.I wasted years being to scared to do it and really wish that I had this done years ago!

I have the lap band currently and im having the sleeve done March 4. When I'm nervous about something I think about the pros and cons and which outweighs the other.

I will Be in some pain. I will have to work my way up to eating regular food again. I will be out of work for 9 days.

I will have help losing weight!! I will finally be able to win this struggle I've had all my life!! I will feel amazing about myself. I will be able to.get pregnant without hormones and medicine.

I haven't been hearing a lot of good.things about the lap band. Rumors of a recall because like us so many people are not losing weight. Its not working. I was talking to my nutritionist the other day and she even said the lap band is like a torture device. You're hungry but you can't eat. I couldn't even eat Protein. It got to the point where all I could get down is Ice cream. I only lost about 30 pounds. Do not think of this as a failure! Think of.this experience that the sleeve will not be anywhere near as hard as the lap band is! We've had it the worst! Its been really hard! But you have decided that you are not.going to Be a victim to.your weight anymore! You are going to be triumphant!!

I didn't have the band but went straight for the sleeve. i had complications and a two month hospital stay. BUT I am four and a half months out from my original surgery and have lost almost 55 kg. The tracker below will give you this in pounds (I'm an Aussie so we use metric lol). Though I wouldn't recommend the surgery to anyone, after my own experience even with the complications, I can't argue with the amazing results :) Good luck with your decision! Don't take it lightly but don't be scared either - be very sure before you proceed. Trust me, you need to have been very clear with yourself why you're doing this particularly if things go wrong, cause it will help you through the tough times. Cheers, Lila

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
