Recommended Posts

Hello everyone

I am 6 days post op and I am sick of Protein Shakes, broth, Popsicles and hot tea. My doctor clinic gave me mixed info on my post op diet. What can I add to day 6 ..does anyone have other info or have tried different foods after day 6 ?

For me day 6 is still full liquids so like.... cream of whatever soup... I can't think of anything but you can certainly google "list of full liquids" or something like that

If you got mixed messages from your doc, you should contact them for clarification. The clear liquid diet part of recovery sucks (I'm 13 days into mine, 10 days to go) but you can get through it.

I was sleeved on 1/7/13 I was 265 the day of and this morning I was at 242 I totally understand how you feel cause I was the same way. The 1 thing that helped me was going to a FULL liquid diet and eating soft eggs. I'm on day 15 and I eat just about anything I feel like. It's all about how things make me feel. So far I have an Iron stomach lol. Try the cream Soups and very soft cooked egg to gage your tolerance.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
