Hello,

I feel that way sometimes... I am 3 weeks out and i dont have alot of interest in drinking. Today i sipped chicken broth but not all. Its weird. I am trying to drink Protein shakes and drink Water. I return to work next Monday I just feel like im dragging. I pick up around the house but dont have alot of energy to clean like i want. I believe im ok just feel exhausted at times. Its a crazy cycle/phase but prayerfully things will get better. Its always gloomy in the winter even pre-op. Best of luck to you. I start phase 2 next Monday maybe i will feel peppier once i can try soft foods.

Take Care,

TD41

I am about 7 weeks out and sometimes I would rather not eat at all than try and deal with how hard it seems to manage the Water to Protein. You can't eat much and can't drink much and you can't combine it so it seems to take so much time trying to figure out what to do it frustrates me. I was feeling really tired and realized though, I will not have any energy if i do not atleast try and get protein in. Your body has to have fuel and while it can take from your body it really needs protein to get your brain and cells going. So if you don't get the seretonin going which is important in depression by giving it fuel they will remain lower than normal and you may feel very tired. Also try getting out in the sun if possible. 15 minutes a day will help with vit D and it increases your energy levels. hope it gets better. Take it one day at a time.

It is very hard at first. I remember feeling the same way. But, you do have to eat and drink Protein to feel better. If you don't, you will end up in the hospital with an IV. Your body can only go so long. Please try to sip Water with G2 Gatorade at least. I always sipped half and half and it help keep my from getting dehydrated. You will feel so much better if you make yourself do exactly as the Dr. says. Good luck and I hope you feel more like yourself soon! :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
