A stall in the first week?

Recommended Posts

Had surgery one week ago. scale hasn't moved in four days. Really weird. Am now on the soft food Stage IV diet after yesterday. Got 70+ g of Protein in yesterday, got 60+ oz of Water in. Every day, I've been following the script to the letter.

I read about stalls, and I know that people say not to worry, but it's weird. Anyone else encounter one already like this?

I bet your body is still swollen and you still have all the gunk left over from surgery..... continue to follow the script - I bet you will see it soon!

My surgeon said that the first month is about healing, not losing. Still I can certainly understand your confusion and frustration. What kind of foods are you eating?

My "meals" are 2 oz of mushy Protein 3x a day (yesterday was B - Cottage cheese, L - Baby food, D - Ricotta), and then a Protein Shake, as well as a small homemade protein pudding for a nighttime snack. In between, fluids all the time (broth, sf Jello, Water, C Light, etc.).

I had my surgery 10 days ago and have lost 16 pounds. I have also stalled. Everyone says it is normal while we heal, but I definitely want to see movement! Hang in there Jeff!

Down 25 lbs., one month out. Broke that stall like a bad habit, but thank you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
