All of my December sleevers...

Recommended Posts

I agree, I don't look in the mirror and see it. However, I KNOW it's noticeable now because just this week I've had 6 different people comment on my weight loss (that don't know about surgery). I've lost 50lbs, including 2 week pre-op diet. It is exciting to have people finally notice. It saddens me though that I was big enough that it takes 50lbs (the size of my 5 year old) for it to be noticeable! Oh well, part of the 'journey' I suppose :)

I think we are all averaging a 40 lb total loss and maybe it just not enough to see it, I thought it would be. I took before pictures 4 days before surgery I didn't have to do a pre op diet I ate until midnight that night so all my weight loss is post -op but maybe after I see the pictures to compare it to just maybe I will see the difference. just maybe. :)

I can see the weight loss in my face and I'm back to wearing clothes that I was wearing before doc unfilled the band in preparation for revision. It's funny because with the band I seemed to gain weight in my chest area, like a body builder. Now 6 weeks post surgery, I see the weight loss mostly in my chest, neck and face.

I had another 2 week stall, then my weight dropped 8 lbs in one day! It was related to TOM so I wasn't super surprised. I'm down 28 lbs now in 5 weeks.

I'm wondering if anyone else feels kind of...I'm not sure how else to put it..."crazy" sometimes? Sometimes I just say something that is totally out of character for me. I even did it on this forum, which was terrible. Anyone else notice that they do or say stuff that is out of character? I think losing food as a mood regulator has something to do with it, and hormonal changes with weight loss...or maybe I'm just rationalizing and I'm not as nice a person as I think I am?

Anyone else?

Well, they did tell me prior to surgery that people can be depressed after surgery. Depression can lead to mood changes that are atypical. Ironically, I was on anti-depressants prior to surgery (for post partum depression) and was relieved to give them up after surgery. But, everyone is different. I don't think what you are describing sounds "abnormal." I think if you did use food as a mood regulator, it is likely that being on the post surgery diet would make you grumpy. And, what they would probably tell you is to take up another activity that makes you feel good to replace the eating. I think someone on this forum took up knitting in place of eating. Knitting made her feel good. She knitted whenever she needed to pick herself up (vs. eating). A lot of people would say replace the eating with exercise, but this isn't always practical.

BTW, speaking of hormones, getting my second TOM was rough. It wasn't "normal" and I was hormonal. I really would have loved a piece of chocolate...not something chocolate flavored. Real chocolate. :-)

I was sleeved on 12/17...only lost 25 pounds to date....this stall is now going on a month....I only eat between 500 & 600 calories a day, walk for 15 minutes three times a week and lift 10 pound dumbbells twice a week...I really wish this thing would break....by the way, what is TOM?

candy - up your calories. I did and it worked - even if you eat CRAP for a couple of days just try to get over 1000 calories... it broke my stall the next day.

acting nurse - I am 24 days out and 29 lbs down from admission weight. I have been averaging about 500 cals a day and am losing about 0.7 lbs a day. Do you think I should up my Cals? My doc had a pretty bland and prescriptive diet for first 4 weeks but back in this week for advancement to blended foods.

When you upped yours what did you see progress wise daily?

Tried something new and dropped 4 pounds in a day! I took my Prilosec in the morning and a Zantac 150 in the afternoon and felt no hunger all day. I wasn't able to reach my Protein goal' date=' but did very well. When I went to GNC to purchase more Protein Shakes they gave me samples of ripped freak, which I am trying today. They are supposed to help burn fat. So far I have a big energy boost. I only have a week to cut at least 8 pounds to reach one of my doctors goals so I sure hope it helps :-)[/quote']

I am going to try Zantac in the afternoon, seems like my 'hunger' read acid picks up in the afternoon/evening so maybe that will help

Well, my BMI's lower so i'll lose a little slower, but since I've upped I'm losing 0.4 - 0.5 pounds a day. That could take you up too? Worked for me... I've been stalling off and on.. more on than off... here lately.

Same here. I'm a raging b****h since surgery. My husband doesn't seen to like it of course, but I am actually okay with it. Personally, I think I hated myself so bad before and lack of self confidence just kind of kept me quiet sometimes. Now I say whatever I feel whenever I feel it and it is very liberating. Everyone else around me may complain about it but not me!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
