disturbing symptoms 5 month out

Recommended Posts

-sleeved 7-24-12 (survived serious complications) and now experiencing some GI problems. regardless of what i eat, how i eat,etc.....after my first bite of food and sometimes liquids, i get nauseaus, sweaty and experience and increase in my heart rate. i have reverted to "urping" and vomiting daily. no diarrhea. i will contact my health care providers. my weight has stayed the same for almost 3 weeks. i am 5-5, started at 205.5 and down to 164. The remainder of my weight is all in my belly. no more feeding tube. the TPN and formula (6 weeks at home) was so calorically dense i feel i am a bit behind my goals. more importantly, i am not getting the proper nutrition due to the nausea. it sounds like dumping syndrome but i feel i do not create the triggers. i am a nurse. had a great home health nurse and NUT after coming home from my hospital. i know what/how to eat-drink, ect. i do feel rather poor. no fever. ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCE THIS???????????????? thank you for any feedback.

I read that wrong so I'm editing. Do you think perhaps it's a twisted stomach? There is another gal currently in the hospital for that same issue who posts on here. Her stomach has turned into a J shape and she was experiencing similar symptoms.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
