Flipped Port

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I went in today for my 2nd fill and found out that my port had flipped. I am supposed to return to the hospital on the 8th for a short procedure to correct the problem.

Has any one ever had this done before? What's it like. The doctor says its painless....:rolleyes I'm nervous and a little scared. Does any one have any advice?

Hi, I had something similar. My band was punctured, so I had it fixed right away. It is Painless, just the anesthesia sting at the begining and then just the itch of the stitches. They just fixed it from the bigger scar where the port is and took about 30 minutes.

Don't Worry,

Eric

Yeah thats what the doc said. He would cut the old port scare and he said it would only take like 10 min and he would give me my fill then as well. I hope so, I'm really not looking foward to this.

Hi K@t  - where the heck have you been?

I hate that this happened - but its one of the more commen issues with lap-band. Id be the same way - worried and scared!

Other then this, hows the weightloss going?

I sure miss you!

On my 4th fill the nurse said that my port had turned sideways....she had to go at the fill on an angle...she wasn't too concerned and said that sometimes it corrects itself....and sure enough, when I went for my last fill the port was back in its proper position.

I guess I was lucky. Good luck with your corrective surgery.

Port revision surgery is a breeze. Mine flipped a couple of months ago and I had to have revision surgery. I was in and out in under 30 minutes and got a fill during that time as well. I went home within an hour after the surgery, felt great and went back to work the next day. The recovery is minimal and there is very little pain involved. I didn't even take tylenol.

As for why they flip, no one knows. It just happens sometimes, thats all.

hey guys, thanks for the support.

i have no idea why it flipped the doctor didnt say. I've been ok but I was really counting on this fill to help me out. I havent lost much more then my initial weight loss. I really need the restriction to help me out more. I've been exercising which i think helps of course.

the doc said it would be a simple procedure so i hope he's right and he said he would do the fill then too so no problem. Thanks for all the well wishes guys.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
