Only 7 wks post op & pregnant.

Recommended Posts

I am 7 mos post op and 7 mos pregnant. I had an IUD and still ended up becoming pregnant. My pregnancy is also unplanned but still a blessing <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> my baby is doing very well <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> an I've lost 115 lbs in these 7 mos. I still have 80 lbs to lose but I know I will be able to do that once she gets here. Everything will work out for the best <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I will say that this pregnancy has been the best even with the more nausea I've had.

Wow!! That's amazing. I haven't lost a single pound but have only managed to gain 5 lbs but that's ok with me. I'm used to gaining 30 plus pounds. Glad to hear that the baby is doing well. What was your starting weight? I've been told that because I was almost where I wanted to be that that's the reason I didn't continue to lose.

Oh wow! I was heavy when I had my daughter and when I lost 30lbs everyone was freaking out and putting me on high calorie shakes for geriatrics lol!! I had a lap band at the time and with the baby and the band in' date=' my tummy just had no room and when it did, morning sickness shoved everything out lol! I stopped losing around the last 3 months or so, but still didn't gain any before delivery. My doctor would have flipped if I lost as much as you have!! lol As long as the baby is healthy though, that's what matters <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> My daughter ended up 3 premature, they said from the "stress on my body" but after 4 days in NICU she was able to go home when I did.

Oh and don't worry about me getting to skinny!! Lol as soon as that baby was out and the pressure was off my band, it quit working again! Lol I easily gained it all back after she was born! Ugh!!![/quote']

Lol. When I didn't gain the first two months everyone was freaking out. I do wish I could've lost a few more pounds but it's ok. I did manage to lose inches tho which is weird. But everyone is still a little freaked out that I've only gained 5 lbs and I'm already in my 5th month. It's crazy how they try to stuff food down me. Hahaha

I was so worried about weight loss and didn't follow my doctors orders to get more calories in. I wish I had let them stuff at least a little more food down me, just in the hopes it would have kept my daughter out of NICU, but, she'll be 2 in May and she's perfect! :) And I ended up needing to get sleeved anyway! Lol

So was she early because she wasn't thriving from your lack of food intake or more from the stress or a combination? I feel like I'm over eating because everyone is constantly feeding me but then I'm not gaining. So far he's just a little under weight but they keep saying its ok for now. I am worried that I'm not getting enough Protein. But I feel like he's going to come early either way.

It was a combination of the two. She was underweight (even for 36 weeks), and her lungs were underdeveloped. That's why she was in NICU. My OB wouldn't ever say anything to blame me, but she said "the stress of pregnancy on MY body" was what prompted the early labor. So I took it to mean that my body wasn't handling pregnancy well with my low intake and weight loss, which prompted delivery at 36 weeks and 5 days and since she was under weight at that point she ended up in NICU. (A lot of babies born at 37 weeks are perfectly fine without NICU)

But again, I want to stress... She is almost 2 and perfect!!! :) But if you can get in some extra calories to help the baby out, it's not like you're going to gain like crazy and it could make for an even healthier baby!! Maybe adding a Protein shake each day or something!

Gotcha. :) so glad she was fine and is fine now :) it's a little scary for us. But I am trying to get in the extra stuff when my tummy allows. :) thanks for info and insight. I am always happy to hear others journeys.

Hi :) congrats! Currently I am trying to consume at least 1000-1200 calories. It's a huge challenge daily and I do still drink my Protein on days where I can't get enough in. I only take one prenatal but I do take vit c, d, B12 and Calcium. I am also still on Prevacid for heartburn. Baby and I are monitored regularly for weight gain and size. He gets checked every 6 weeks for size and growth via ultrasound at our local children's hospital and so far so good. I'm 27 weeks now and he is right on target and I've only gained about 13 lbs. believe it when they say the baby will take what it needs and drain you of everything you've got. Lol. I worried constantly in the beginning about what I ate and forced food down and still do at times but it's really not necessary as I've learned. Just eat healthy and drink your Protein if needed. I'm always here to answer any questions. Congrats again!!

Don't ever underestimate the strength of babies in utero, they are resilient little buggers. Like you, my son was a surprise. We have 9 and 7 yr old girls. During my pregnancy I was dx and treated for kidney cancer. He flew through surgery, no pun intended. No ill effects from the anesthetics or morphine.

You are doing so many things right and being aware of potential issues puts you ahead of the game in ensuring you go the extra mile. Congratulations! My son is a healthy 15 months now and can't imagine having stopped at 2. :-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
