I had my surgery on 12/10. I have one lap site that is SO painful!! It hurts so much!! Especially in the evening. It is NOT red, swollen or inflamed. It is just so painful. It feels just the way it did after surgery. Pretty much no better! And it's been a week! I'm so annoyed by this because otherwise I feel I am doing great. What can I do to make this better? What can I do to help the pain? I've tried heat, cold, the only thing that helps is not really moving- but I'm not about to stay still & get a blood clot! Ugh!

Is it the biggest one? If it is that's the one that had more trauma they remove the stomach out of the biggest incision and normally it gets stretched a lot hence why it might be more painful give it a couple more days. If its not red or hot to the touch you'll be ok. Always contact your doc if it doesn't feel right..

My whole stomach is still very tender, I was sleeved 12-11 but I do have one site that is definitely more painful than the rest and it's not red/leaking/swollen either. I still do my pain medication once a day and at night if it's bothering me. I know it's hard but our bodies do need time to heal! :)

With me, the one closest to the internal stitches always hurt the worst.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
