Yep, my calories are pretty low as well. I am 4 days out and definitely not getting in the protein that I need. What I understand is that the most important to get is water/fluids. I sip on my water all day.

I wasn't a revision but the soreness will last for a while. My post-op the first week my doctor just wanted me to concentrate on fluids and not worry about Protein. I have only had maybe 2 ounces of Water since surgery it is too hard for me to get down so I have been drinking Powerade zero. I am now a little over a month out and still can not get in 64oz of fluids but I try and I am now able to get in at least 60gr of protein thanks to the shakes. The fluids will get better as you heal, right now your tummy is swollen so in time you'll be able to drink more.

One thing I would suggest is to get some pedialyte popsicle and see if you can get them down to help ensure you do not get dehydrated.

I was the same at that stage (I'm 5 months out now) and could hardly drink Water. I lived on Popsicles and yoghurt for the first while. Then graduated to string cheese, and on and on. I never did the Protein Shakes as they make me throw up :( and that really hurt! I get my Protein in now and can drink water normally. It'll come around for you too :)

This is really good to hear. I have tried to do the protein shakes but they are kind of yucky and it's a struggle. I would rather just eat yogurt with some stevia or some Soup. Most artificial sweeteners really turn me off.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
