About one week. Did they give you Zofran to take?

Diet Snapple Green tea works well too

Day 2' date=' breathing, moving, drinking, you name it i feel like I'm going to throw up[/quote']

The nausea lasts 2-3 days and is horrible. All I could do is dry heave. Hopefully your surgeon gave you some anti nausea medicine to help control it like mine did. But keep walking and hydrated! You will make it through this!

I requested they stop giving me pain meds and I started feeling better (too bad for me it was the last day in the hospital lol). I haven't taken any since and I am a little over a month out.

I hope you feel better!

Nausea is very bad, still a lot of pain, i was bawling. Because the IV in my hand suddenly was the worst pain I had ever felt and couldn't get a nurse to come help me. Switched me off my pain pump to a liquid Vicodin type stuff which I almost threw up. Then he tried up put an IV in my forearm, that made me hysterical it hurt do bad & he couldn't get he vein right. Finally moved to my other hand. During which the nausea got better and pain meds kicked in. So for the moment feeling good.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
