Calcium Citrate with Vitamin D and Magnesium?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone suggest a calcium citrate with Calcium and magnesium? I'm having trouble finding one. I have trouble with chewables, so I've been cutting up my mutlivitamin and swallowing it like that. But the calcium citrate i can't find.

I was looking for the same thing and I ended up going with the vitacost - more pills compared to the twinlab 120 vs 60 and they were cheaper. I read the reviews and people seemed to like the vitacost taste better too. The only thing that was better about the twinlab brand was the abount of Vitamin D. I was told I need 5,000 IU of Vitamin D per day. I'm trying to combine as many pills so that i won't be taking as many, but even with the Multivitamin and the Calcium having vitamin D - I might still need an additional supplement. Taking all of these pills is going to be tough! Gotta go - I only have 25 minutes until I start my clear liquid pre op diet!!!

Is Caltrate 600 + D acceptable?

I'm just in the beginning stages.

Thanks for any info you can offer

That's what I use but I'd never seen the other things mentioned here. I'll have to look into them. I split the pill into 1/4 then just swallow it. My doc said I didn't need to completely crush pills as long as they aren't the big horse pills. I also use 2 Flintstones chewable Vitamins / day. A lot cheaper than the ones at the bariatric supply places and they seem to have the same Vitamins. Remember to keep Iron in multi-vitamins 2-hours away from Calcium and milk. Just learned that one from my NUT.

NO!!! VSG Patients need calcium citrate... Caltrate doesnt have this... Caltrate has Calcium Carbonate which VSG patients do not absorb well.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
