5 days out and im starving!

Recommended Posts

All I keep thinking about is ordering food!! I'm so hungry and sick of fluids. I ate Greek yogurt today. I know I shouldn't have, but I'm seriously hungry. My cousin already lectured me on why I can't eat. I know I can't, I'm just sooooooo hungry! I'm missing my best friend food like crazy. I had a wonderful experience in Mexico. My Dr. Was great! The hospital, staff, etc. I wasn't even hungry for 4 days. Now that I'm home, it's so hard. I have tried to pray the cravings away, but this is quite a fight. Please tell me I'm not alone in feeling this way. I know a bunch of us just got sleeved, how are you guys dealing with it?

Hi LittleHope!

My surgery was this past Monday. I'm sorry to say that I also feel pretty hungry a lot of the time. But I think the fact that we feel hungry so soon is because the actual healing from the surgery is going great for us, which is a wonderful position to be in.

I do think most of this "hunger" nonsense will change once we can eat "real food". Once we can have chicken and beef, we're going to be able to eat 2 or maybe 3 ounces of meat (with no liquids -- remember that) and we're going to feel stuffed for the next 3 hours while our stomach works to digest that.

Be patient, Girl Friend. Healing is the name of the game for the first 3 weeks or more. Then we can start experimenting with filling those demanding tummies of ours!

Thank you!!!! It's so good to know I'm not alone! I guess I'll be healed by Christmas, that's something to look forward too. I just need to hold on. This is harder than when I quit smoking though.

I was sleeved on Monday and I have not experience hunger as of yet. I have been sipping on chicken broth, Protein Drinks and Jello. I am also tired and bored with liquid diet. Today which is day six I also eat a few spoon ful of carmal vanilla greek yorgurt. It was so yummy. Be sure to get in your Protein and like another post said, before we know it we will be able to try other foods. Is it head hunger or tummy hunger?

Can you drink green tea? It curbs the appitite. Not sure about the cafeine.

Your tummy is still healing from the surgery and the nerves are too so it's very unlikely that you are truly hungry. Three months out I still haven't felt hunger like I did pre-surgery. Are you taking a PPI? That feeling of acid/gas is very similar to hunger especially at first. When I forget to take it, my pouch reminds me.

You're right! I took my acid pill first thing this morning and I haven't been hungry all day!!! Plus no tv and lots of prayer. Thank God!!! :-)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
