That I can finally eat and tolerate Protein bars! I was gagging trying to get the protein shakes/drinks down. I am 4 weeks 1 day out and I am just now starting to feel 'normal' again. Well, me new normal!

Thank you to everyone on this forum for all of your support. I could never have done this without you all!

I had the same exact problem! The Protein Shakes were actually making me super sick, I was so happy to transition to Protein bars, I'd snack on one and it would take me all day but better than nothing, by week 6 I had no problem getting all my protein in via chicken, etc. Love my high protein lifestyle! I don't even miss the carbs!

I've been digging the Quest Protein bars. They've got a little under 20 carbs per bar but it's all dietary Fiber (like 17g) and very minimal sugar (like 3 grams). They're not Meal Replacement, only protein though, and that's a bummer.

There's another wave coming. If you thought this was good wait until you move down the rack at the clothing stores. And there's the energy wave and the no longer avoiding mirrors wave. Surf's up! B)

Gman, I cannot wait for all of that!!!!

I have been enjoying the Zone Protein bars. I can't stand nuts so finding a bar has been tough but they have a fudge graham one and a caramel crunch one that are both delicious and with 14g of Protein.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
