I was told to leave them until they fell off... That said, 3 weeks later 1 of them still hadn't fallen off and it was looking mighty gross under there.

I went to my doctor and they ended up pulling it off and agreeing that it was early stage infection and they weren't going to give me antibiotics, but to keep an eye on it and if it got worse or not better in a few days I should come back.

Long story short, try to leave them on until they get too gross then help them along. :)

Thanks so much, my daughter was worried, she thought that I should be cleaning and changing them.

When I was discharged from the hospital, I was told that I could remove the bandages and shower the next day...I use dial soap in the shower and have no problem with my incision except for the largest one itches sometime...other than that, they look great...ready for the staple to be removed though....

I actually have a little plastic thread sticking out of one of my wounds- they were sealed with glue not stitches- so I don't know what to do with this 1/4 inch plastic thread sticking out! Don't see doc until January 20

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
