Sleeve Surgery In The Begining Of The Next Month!

Recommended Posts

I will do the sleeve surgery in the first week of next month( still not sure of the exact day).

I feel a lot of mixed feelings. I am excited about losing weight but afraid from the surgery and the pain after it.

I am 102 kg and 25 years old.

What do u think??

Christine

Your fear is very healthy, if you didn't have any reservations about being cut into & having the vast majority of your stomach removed I would be concerned. All I can say is in hindsight(I'm 6months post op) this is definitely one of the best things I have done for myself. I only wish I had done it sooner.

Thanks a lot! How did u feel after u woke up from the surgery??

I don't react well to anesthesia. So I was combative coming out(but I was strong enough to be combative). I had some nausea till the IV Meds kicked in (which only took about 15-30min). After that it was smooth sailing. No pain, no further nausea nothing. Was up and walking around in no time. Came off IV about 48hrs after surgery and haven't had a single medication other than a stool softener since.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
