Any Dec 13 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Mine is similar. I have 1000 calories per day but not limited to shakes. I guess all drs are different. Have you looked into any brand of shakes yet?

My surgeon requires nothing but liquids (Protein shakes). Typically, a 10 day liquid diet is required prior to surgery but for me the surgeon made an exception. 20 days liquid diet!

Yeah, unfortunately I really dislike all Protein Drinks. I will likely alternate between Carnation and Unjury. They are the two brands that I can stand the most. It is going to be a long month until surgery. I start liquids the day after Thanksgiving.

I should start with you. I was honestly thinking about doing all liquid anyway... To help prepare. I have read other posts on here that some members have enjoyed the Premier Protein chocolate shakes hitch have 30 grams Protein. I have never had them before though.

I know it sounds miserable, but I also know it has the best results for losing pre-op weight and most importantly, shrinking the liver. The surgeon is anticipated extra difficulty due to scarring so wants as much room to work in there as possible.

See and that is exactly why I was thinking to do a liquid anyway is because of the shrinking of the liver. She said mine looks ok from the ultrasound but it is always better to be safer and make it easier for the surgeon when they operating.

That was my thought and why I didn't even try to argue with him. If he says it will make a night and day difference in the difficulty of the procedure then I'm going to do what I can to make it easy.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
