Hey guys!

I am a female 20 years old, from Montreal,Quebec and I will be getting my surgery in February 2013. I will be going alone.. Kind of nervous that I would be going alone... This will be my first and hoping the last surgery I have. I am EXTREMELY nervous! I can't believe I am doing this! I have told a couple of friends and My family. At the beginning they were not very supportive with my decision to go to Mexico and get my sleeve.. But then I showed them this site where I have actually lived in since I decided that I wanted to do my surgery.

I will be going with Dr. Garcia, in Tijuana. I am a little nervous but at the same time very sure with my decision. The only thing that has me preoccupied is the fact of all these things appearing that Dr. Garcia has had fatalities and stuff... But I personally don't think its true.

I just wanted to know if anybody would be having surgery with Dr. Garcia at around the same date that I am planning on having it (on February 11).

Also I would like to know if someone could tell me a bit about the pre op diet with Dr Garcia...

Just really anybody that would like to share their experience would be wonderful... T

Thank you in advance! =)

How great that you're getting this great tool so early in your life.

The pre-op diet with Dr. Garcia was different depending on your size. The bigger you are the longer the diet. My daughters was only 3 days on liquids but her BMI was 38 at the time. Ask your coordinator.. I have the pre-op diet sheet that was sent to us if you'd like me to email it to you.

Wow! You are a lot more brave than I was at 20 years old! Good luck to you!

I spoke with my coordinator Ronda the other day and she had much praise for Dr. Garcia. Even tho he is not going to be my surgeon I was concerned about the drama and rumors. She said Dr. Garcia is an excellent surgeon and has performed over 3000 surgeries with only 2 - 3 fatalities. That is a 0.01 % mortality rate. And she said they were not due to his errors but things that are medically out of anyone's control. I think she mentioned an aneurysm... Plus actual patient feedback carries the most weight!

Hey folks. Kinda off topic but I'm working to schedule my surgery with Dr.Garcia in February. I have found out all I needed to make my decision. But I have one more question. Do I need a passport book or just a passport card? My coordinator mentioned something about just having my ID and birth certificate. How did you all get there? Because I have to pay for both me and my mom and that would end up being expensive.

Passport card to drive/ride across the border. Passport book if you're flying into another country. Some have gone without a passport of any kind but why chance it?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
