@ Rena's Ragdolls.. Do you already have a surgeon?

Yes, same as you, Dr. Turton. I went to one of his seminars last year, but it wasn't a good time for me to consider it. This year, I contacted his office instead of going through another seminar. I've had my initial appointment with him and have completed the psych exam and a sleep apnea exam (moderate to severe apnea). My nutritional class starts this Thursday. I haven't yet talked to my PCP about it, and am hoping that she agrees.

Hello fellow bama sleevers! I'm from West Alabama and was sleeved this week on April 23rd. The first few days were rough but I'm feeling much better!

@bamafarmchick glad to hear everything is going well. I have been curious as to how long it would take to be out and about after surgery. Keep us posted! Best wishes!

Day 5 and I felt well enough to go watch both of my boys play doubleheaders at the ball field. I sat drinking my Water and ensure clear and got a little sunburned and sweaty. Actually, while at the park, my steristrips sweated off my incisions which look better than expected. I was exhausted by the end of the day but I felt really well otherwise!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
