I am hoping to schedule a VSG in March/May/June 2013. I have read everything that I have been able to find. I am confident with Dr.Kelly and feel better that he has trained in the US. I would love to hear other peoples stories as well as find a sleeve buddy!!! Did you go through Omar? Also, did anyone have a post op diet? and did you have a drain? I've read that at one hospital, Dr.Kelly would use a drain, at another he didn't. When did you go back to work? I have 4 small children and am a student so I have plenty that needs to be done. I am also thinking of traveling without my husband, due to it being very hard to find someone to stay with the kids for that long.. If any of you have done that, how quickly were you able to contact family post op? Did anyone call family for you? I may take a surgery buddy but that is undecided at this point. I will be flying from texas. I can't wait to get started!! Also, how many of you have told friends and family? I have some friends that are genetically gifted and weigh 110 regardless of what they eat. I plan on telling my closest friends but no one else.. I also have family that would have nothing but negative things to say about going to Mexico and how I should just try another diet or excercise more.....Thanks for all advice and answers!!!

I'm going in March 10-15th as well! :) but I'm going to Dr. Lopez, and he uses Mi hospital. I'm not sure which one Dr. Kelly uses... I have a 3 year old little boy, who I am scared of leaving behind, but it breaks my heart knowing that I can't play with him like I should be able to... Because of my weight. I just keep telling myself it will all be alright, I'm gonna make it back home and become much healthier! :)

I have never been to Mexico and the thought of going anywhere especially (possibly) without my husband is scary!!!!! I have read some good things about Dr.Lopez too :-)

I went to Dr. Kelly (oct 26.12). Highly recommend him. It was an overall positive experience. I went through Omar too (who is a sweetheart). I felt safe and i was impressed with the care and overall experience. I was back at work day 5 after surgery and have lost 27 pounds in 20 days. I had no complications and minimal pain, but if I did it again, I would refuse nausea drugs (they made it worse), I did have nausea for 12 hours, but after that felt great. I wish I had done this a long time ago. No drain (depends on how surgery goes) and I was expecting one as I have had lots of previous surgeries and earlier cancer, so I had a less than straightforward case. After my surgery were a 70 and 77 year old pair from Texas , much higher bmi than me, and they breezed through surgery.

My bmi was 35.

Thanks Jessie!! I too have a lower BMI 33-34 depending on the day lol. But I have been higher. I am so glad to hear that you had a good experience :-) I would love to keep in touch!! I have been wondering if I will have to take a 2nd trip to Mexico to have loose skin removed etc... i haven't been able to find much on what to expect with wls with a lower BMI as far as treatments down the road. I would love to not need ant nipping or clipping but we will see. ;)

I also am wanting to have surgery maybe april/may... but excited to do it with Dr. Kelly!! because I have heard nothing but great comments and great expiriences. I´ve been in touch with his staff and Dr. Kelly was great at responding all my questions, I thought what better Doctor than to take the time to sit down and talk to me. It´s very scary..but I know I´m in good hands. I´ve heard that the Hospital he uses is called Oasis of Hope and its near the ocean.. And has patients all over the world all the time one of best care. I Know Dr. Kelly web page is not working right know I called the office and told me their working on that someone is trying to harm Dr. Kelly image.. thats sad. But Good luck to all of You. It´s worth it.:)

What is the cost with Dr Kelly? Also is it all inclusive or do you need to book your own hotel/ground transportation? Anyone have the number to his TC? His website is having issues and is listed as an attack site so I can't get the info from there. THANKS!

Thank you for posting the numbers - I am going to try calling tomorrow. I am pretty much down to two docs, either Dr Kelly or Dr Alvarez (which won't happen without financial help from family) and I tried his website today and my browser blocked it due to malware and his wlsclinic site wouldn't let me submit my info.

I spoke with Omar yesterday and he quoted me 5000 for june 2013. I need a little more time to save the cash. At first I wanted to use credit but decided that paying interest isnt wirth it. I am very excited for you :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
