Hi!

I'm waiting to hear back from my blue shield *** insurance about approval for my surgery. Does anybody have this insurance and if so' date=' how long did it take to get approved after submitting all the paperwork?[/quote']

I receive the answer 3 weeks later...I spent 2750 dlls on deductible... And after that the insurance said there were not srtrong reasons to approve my surgery since I had no diabetes, blood presure problems or any condition that make my surgery needed... Maybe they didnt read the part that said I was 333 pounds and a 52 bmi... I wasted 4 mo and almost 3k for nothing... Finally I had my surgery in Mexico... Excelent service... Reasonsble price

I have BCBS Fed, but I gave them my insurance info at the seminar in April. It took a couple of weeks I think. I did my first pre-op appt. in May this year. They said they would get it all approved as long as I had a sleep study and do a 3-month supervised weight loss.

I'm so sorry to hear that. My insurance fortunately only took a week and a half to approve it. Every insurance is different.

Did you have an exclusion in your policy for no weight loss or anything related?

Dee I don't think I understand the question. My insurance was really easy to deal with. There was requirements that I had to fulfill. I did have to lose my pre surgery weight loss goal though.

I have BCBS Texas but had an exclusion. Why I can't have surgery now. I was denied. I was wondered if you also had an exclusion.and still having the sleeve. I wanted to know how you got around the exclusion.

I don't think I have any exclusions. My surgeon said my insurance is pretty easy. Everything went smooth for me. It only took them a week and one day to authorize the surgery.

I am in the blue cross blue shield risk pool...which by law they can charge me 3 times the normal rate to have insurance this crappy insurance has Any and all weight loss surgery exclusions and all exclusions related to weight loss surgery. It's truly a crime

When my surgeon called they sent a letter denying all weight loss surgery citing the exclusion. I called and tried to appeal... they in essence said too bad so sad. End of story.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
