Do you count the Protein in milk towards your protein total or just your Fluid total?

I use it for both.

I was told that any Liquid Protein also counts towards your total 64 oz. of liquid requirement a day.

There are different theories on this. Some docs really push that the fluids need to be clear, which is unrealistic IMO.

My son struggled for several years from birth with dehydration, so I go by the official medical version of liquids, which is liquids. It could be milk, coffee, tea, wine or a Protein drink...they all contain more liquid than they do solids and as such fit within my Fluid goal. This is how a non-diet, hospital setting MD looks at fluids and IMO it's a heck of a lot more realistic to follow the actual definition verses a diet doc's personal "water" goals.

My son drank no Water and at ten months, between formula and diet soda (yes...doctor prescribed) he finally began to meet his fluid goals daily. Had we been counting Water or clear fluids...he'd basically have been having nothing.

But then if you want to get really technical....they actually count the liquid content in foods LOL But that gets a bit complicated :P

Hi Newbie

its a double header you are killing 2 birds with one stone :)

the protein g from milk goes towards your daily count of Proteins

now take that same "8 oz"? of milk and count towards your liquid intake

your profile doesn't show if you are pre-WLS or post WLS (hmmm i wish it did!! ;) )

if you are pre-op good luck with WLS

post of???? good luck too!!!!

one day at a time whichever you are :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
