December Surgeries?

Recommended Posts

Ya I have' date=' my BMI is high so I will automatically be approved, just wondering when Dr submits it, how long it would take just for insurance to say yes. We shall see I guess.[/quote']

I sure hope that is the case that you will get automatic approval! Every insurance company is different and unfortunately some insurers look for ways to deny....certainly lots of horror stories of people on this site who have been denied by insurance companies (even with high BMI's and comorbidities) and they have had to move through the appeal process stages seeking approval. Fingers are crossed for you!!

Awesome missmemymelissa! I am sure you are excited as we are too! Did you have a lengthy process meeting with dietitians, etc. to get to this point? Keep us updated when you get word of approval and select your date!

Mine was sent to insurance (Cigna) Nov 2nd and my surgeon's office called yesterday and scheduled my date because they received approval!! I am sch Dec 10th with Dr Avara in Biloxi, MS. Very nervous but glad to have the date so I can make myself get ready! Still trying to learn to not drink with meal (will be easier after surgery because hernia will be gone). Have other things I need to work on but at least know my timeframe now!!

Mrs D, yes it was quite a lengthy process. We have a program in my hometown called healthy steps. I had a 6 month program. I saw an exercise physiologist, dietician, nutritionist, as well as having to lose my pre surgery weight loss goal. I also needed a psych eval to assure I was "sane enough to consent to surgery" It has Ben a lengthy process so far.

I was told my insurance took typically 3 weeks to approve or deny but they only took 7days each time. (I got denied 3 times for little stuff before I finally got approved)

Also every hospital is different. I got approved last week but the soonest surgery date is Jan 7. But I've seen other people at different hospitals get scheduled within a few weeks and others not getting scheduled til March.

Hey all...newbie here too. My dates is Dec 5th...woo hoo. My insurance, United Heatlh Care took 2 days to approve ( I thought it was 7 but I was wrong ). Already did the Cardio stuff, NUT and Psych Eval....My 1st consult visit was 10/10/12, so this is moving right along. I PRAY the procedure, recovery and weight loss is just as easy. I would love to keep up with all the Dec peeps to support and guide each other along...send a friend request if interested as well. XOXOXO

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
