Just back from getting Sleeved in Mexicali.............

Have lived in SoCal forever and gone to TJ a hundred times............but just the small part of Mexicali I saw impressed me.

It appeared very business oriented but a little colonial.

Maybe it was the medication

Glad you had a good experience. I liked Mexicali too, the little I saw of it anyway. Wasn't the staff great?

I had a great experience too. If you get a chance, I recommend going to the pharmacy across the street to get more Pantazol, the acid reducer. It really came in handy when I didn't think I was up to the pills yet. I was glad I had the extra box. I got extra supradol (pain meds) too but didn't even use the ones they gave me. One of the nurses was sweet enough to guide us across the street (okay, insisted!) due to the crazy traffic.

LOL just came back from the pharmacy with a few more boxes of Pantazol and the Supradol as well (they worked wonders with my headache when I arrived) I had not any pain meds since I came off the IV and feel pretty good :-)

Glad to hear it! Now that I think of it, I think I did take one Supradol at the airport. I didn't do baggage claim and was kinda whupped by the time I got to the gate. Not real pain, I think it was just preventive. When I bought a Water, the girl was nice enough to give me a cup of ice too. I sucked on ice chips while I waited for my flight.

Thank you guys it is so great to read your experience with Dr. Aceves. I'm scheduled for VSG 12/28/2012 with him, very nervous.

I was nervous too, especially since I went alone. Fortunately I found a sleeve sister on this board and there were several people there in various stages of recovery. All my worry was for nothing. If you haven't read this thread yet, I highly recommend it. It's by another person but it describes my experience almost to to the letter. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/31522-sleeved-in-mexicali-warning-really-long/

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
