Right now I am doing a mile min. In 23 to 25 minutes on the treadmill and am doing upper body and leg machines. Minimum 3 times a week. Some days I get to a mile and a half or a little more on the treadmill !! Slowly building up

Well, i do heavy weights, not light. But i work all body parts, total of 5 days a week lifting. And i do cardio 5-6 days, generally anywhere from 20-45 minutes, depending on my weight training.

I walk 2 miles 3-4 days a week. We have lots of hill where I live. I'm 4 weeks post op so I haven't started lifting yet. I also lift heavy and I probably wont be able to do that until I'm at least 7-9 weeks out from surgery. I might have to just settle for the 5-10 lbs girly weights lol but it's better than nothing :) I plan to start running once I get the all clear but it's too early for that.

I guess it all varies by surgeon, just like pre and post op diets. My doc said i could return to cardio as soon as i felt like it, and no restrictions in the gym after 3 weeks. But i was highly active and very fit before surgery, and i heal quickly. So definitely listen to what your doctor recommends, for your particular case.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
