Recommended Posts

Hey all!!!

My surgeons office submitted my info im thinking either last thursday or friday.

Im just wondering how long it usually takes??? i've heard of people hearing back really soon like in a few days... im just REALLY anxious for a yes or a no... i want this so bad and the waiting seems like eternity!!!!

Does anyone have cigna (NALC) federal insurance??? or cigna in general? i just wanna know how long it took for you to hear back from them??

Patiently waiting

Krysti.

I have Cigna, just an *** and I heard back in about 4 days. I know that Cigna is very tricky.... so as long as your Dr's office has all the paperwork in order you should be fine. I did a lot of research before to make sure what was needed from my insurance and even just to verify that they will approve it. I also called cigna everyday to see if I was approved. Once they told me I was I had my Dr Office call and get the approval over the phone versus waiting for them to get the info the next day.. this was because I needed to schedule a surgery date. I had one tentatively but Dr wouldn't put it in stone till insurance approved. Luckily they did and within a week of insurance approval I was able to have my surgery! Good luck :)

I have NALC/Cigna.... I have heard nothing yet... it went in last week. I am worried because my BMI is borderline at 35.9 with high blood pressure despite medication. I dipped below 35 once in the last year when on the dr. supervised diet, but the HCG stopped working (developed a tolerance to the hormone) and I gained it all back, especially after my gall bladder removal.

I called NALC and they said the letter from the surgeon came today and it was sent down to the review department. They said from here it can take up to 30 days.

@noonie did you call your insurance company or somewhere else? I called my surgeons office and they said they had submitted and even heard back from "care allies" asking information about me, but when I call my insurance they know NOTHING about my pre determination. HELP!!!

@kbby, I called the NALC number at the top of any EOB and pressed option 4 to speak to a claims representative. They showed that they received the package from the surgeon today and it was forwarded to their medical review department. If they are telling you they haven't received it, have your surgeon's office follow up or resend. In my case, they even read back the requested procedure, so I know I wasn't just getting a canned answer.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
