Recommended Posts

Well I began my giant journey on July

26th when I was qualified to be a candidate for gastric sleeve surgery by dr Richards Nyugen in San Jose,Ca. From there i was required to be cleared by 6 specialist in order to proceed w the procedure. I then over the next couple of month received the clearance awhile brought me to a few days ago!! On October 24rh2012 I went in for direct at 7 am where I had the sweetest nurse

.... Who. Widowed me check my vitals and feed me a pill for my nerves!! I was extremely nervous w a blood pressure reading of 156/111 (not normal for me) before long my surgeon came by told me he was preparing and that he would see me in a bit!!! @9:15 I wheeled in by my nurse and anathesiologist dr baker where my life would change Forever!! Dr baker then ask me to count to 15 && the last number i remeber was 4. Next thing I knew I woke up in a great deal of pain where they hooked up my morphine pump and told me to hit the button when I needed!! After a while I was taken to my room and meet there by my mother who has traveled this whole journey with me. I stayed in the hospital the next 36 hrs and then was allowed to go home!!! This morning on 10/27 after my liquid diet and all I am now 329.2 lbs!

Kim, they give you something for your anxiety before the surgery. I didn't even care about anything after they have me that. It goes so fast, you don't have time to be nervous. My surgery was on 10/8. You will do great:))

Thanks wings!!! I'm very excited about it everytime I step on the scale it makes it worth it!! @kim ... I was super excited for my surgery and my journey, the anxiety didn't hit me till the night before when I realize omg! I'm really doing this.. Couldn't really sleep either I was tossing an turning!! By the time i got to the hospital my blood pressure was through the roof at a smooth 156/111 lol but my intake nurse was super amazing and reassured me I was doing the right thing for my life and health! After that she weighed me had me use the rest room took me back to my bed where there was a hospital gown that had an opening for a machine to shoot warm air In that helps calm u and makes your vein more visible for the IV (that was what I was scaredest about!!) but once I was there in my warm cacoon they Gave me a couple pills... One was for nausea the other was for pain afterwards that supposed to be long lasting...and the best one for anxiety!!! That one truly helped it started working w/in ten mins and I just completely relaxed I was joking w the nurses and not a care in the world! Your eyes feel heavy and ur so relaxed that they took my blood pressure again and it was back down to 121/79 I think or somewhere around there! I was reeled into where the actual surgery was going to be and the antisiologist (sp check) greeted me and told me it was time he was going to connect this tube to my IV an hook up some monitors and for me to count to 15.. The last number I remember was 4!! Next thing I knew I was waking up and being taken to my room!!! I think that being nervous is normal! Just ask ur self is this something you really want ... And if the answer is yes then I say all the anxiety is worth it because once your there in pre op they help w that and afterward to me in 4 days out and it was all worth it to me!! I feel that this was the best decision I have ever made because I have lost 25 lbs and this morning when I weighed myself I saw I had lost another two pounds and my arms just shot in the air!! Kinda cheesy but that's truly what happened.. Nobody understands the struggle we go through everyday unless they walk in our shoes!! If u Ever need anything pls don't hesitate to ask!! I will try and help as much as I can! I hope that helped!! Just remember before you go back to OP they give you something!!!

I have Benin minimal pain... The only pain that I get is the gas but that just last for like 3-10 max then it's all gone .. Just keep up on ur painted and u will be just fin! When I get up I have to be careful because my left side hurts when I move wrong but that was expected they say the cut on the left side is the worst... But today I went on a little walk outside so I'm found good!! Just keep up w ur meds!!! They won't let u go if ur in to much pain!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
