Specialist won't give me a note!

Recommended Posts

I called my neurologist to have hime write a note on my behalf to give to insurance. Every little bit helps. I see a neurologist since I was diagnosed with Pseudo Tumor Cerebri. One of the ways to remain in remissions is weight loss. He said he will not wriet a note and anything having to do with this I have to deal with my GP. Well, my GP (who I'm seeing at 6 for the first time about this surgery) I only go on occasion, mostly to get referrals to my specialists! I don't have a relatinoship with him, but going is a technicality for the Band. I told the neurologists office that I need to provide as much back up documentation as poissible for insurance pruposes and to help me get approved. Again they denied me. Advice would be great.

Kind of crazy, since I really like this doctor - I even have my dad going to him! Perhaps he's agains the surgery. Who knows! But now how do I prove I was diagnosed and treated with this disease?

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

You have a right to your medical records. You may have to pay for copies and sign a release, but the DR. has to give them to you. Do this and his office notes or labs should prove you have this disorder.

Hi Sherilynn. I find that very mean spirited on behalf of your neurologist. I have Multiple Sclerosis, and my neuro has supported me all the way with written documentation and even a phone follow up.

Obesity is of major concern for those of us with neurological conditions, and if your current neuro wont support you get another one.

All the best with it.:P Susannah

Sherilynn,

My neurologist also would not write a letter of referral. She said it was because she can only write referrals for neurosurgery. Go Figure. The only note I had was from my PCP, and I also wrote an essay on why the band would be good for me, what research I had done, etc etc, and it worked for me. Your insurance could be a totally different situation. YOu are right, every little bit helps... perhaps you can ask one more time?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
