So - I kinda got my pre-op EGD yesterday and the worst part was the IV. Must admit it did burn with the propofol hit my hand but i was only awake a couple of seconds to feel it then next thing I knew I was back in the little waiting room and on my way home. This whole time I was nervous for nothing lol. Only 2 months to go!

I don't even know what you are talking about. They made you get an endoscopy? I only had to do the 6 month diet and medical & psych clearance. Well at least thet are being thurough!!

Yep my surgeon makes everyone get an EGD (Endoscopy) in case there are any ulcers or anything that needs to be addressed prior to surgery..

OK the best part was apparently when they were waking me up in the scope room - I asked "Did you find the baby?" LMAO... funny thing is I would have asked that sober.

I had one yesterday!! I was really nervous too but like you said, the worst part was the IV. That burned ALOT and it still hurts!! Does your throat feel weird? My throat is starting to feel weird; no pain but feels a little raw.

Lol yeah it felt weird.. not really sore.. but a little scratchy... if that makes sense. Just enough for me to know it was off... but didn't really hurt. lol

Has anyone had the endoscopy yet? That can calm me down....I'm freaking out because its a moderate sedation and not a deep one. Am I gonna feel it. I'm not good with things like that and am wondering If I should ask for deep sedation.

You will not feel a thing. Even with the lighter sedation, you will be fast asleep.

Good luck!

That's what the EGD is. It's the endoscopy.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
