My Biggest NSV To-Date

Recommended Posts

I have been a little discouraged lately. I officially weigh every Monday morning, and have been doing the up and down thing for a couple of months, though at the end of the month the average for the month is still coming out to about a pound per week. (I know that's what its supposed to be, but being patient is not one of my strongest attributes..lol)

BUT, yesterday I wanted something new to wear, everything was either getting too big or I was just tired of it. So I go shopping. I tried on pants first, not good, if they fit around my stomach the legs are HUGE...I tried on 3 pairs of jeans....yuk. Then I went for the tops.....

I tried on several...all too big...hmmmmm...maybe a different department?

For the first time in YEARS...I went to the ladies department...not womens...ladies...I bought a size 16/18 top....I cried in the dressing room...

I've gone from a 26W/28W to a 16/18 top...

Now if I could find pants to fit I would be ecstatic...

Does anyone else have the problem with pants? The stomach is big and hanging and the legs are SKINNY...and there is NO junk in the trunk...what do I wear?

Hey congrats!!! That's a big accomplishment!!

As for pants, I have the complete opposite problem. I have large thighs and tush and a small waist and fairly flat stomach. So for me, I have to buy a larger size to fit my rear and thighs and they end up being huge in the waist.

I don't think they'll ever make pants that actually "fit". Although I Levi's in Manhattan, will actually take your measurements and design a pair of jeans to actually fit you. I think I might give that a shot when I get to my goal.

I have the same problem. They think all fat people have huge legs and butt. I don't. I think its Land's End that will take your measurments and make pants to your size. I thought I would do that when I lose a little more. It would be nice to have pants that fit.

Congradulations on the smaller size top. I know that made you feel great!

I haven't had the pleasure of doing any clothes shopping yet, but I wanted to congratulate you on your great NSV! I can't wait to shop in a department other than plus sizes, how exciting.

Oh, and by the way, long time no talk to! I just saw Dr. Herrera today for my monthly appointment. I was on the line about whether or not I needed a fill, so we talked and decided not just yet. I am averaging between 1.5 and 2 pounds a week, so we are going to give it a few more weeks. I have a feeling by next month I will definitely need one. I hope to see you at the next meeting, I have missed the last two, one due to my daughter being ill and the other due to work.

Great NSV!!!!! I'm opposite also. I'm in 12's in regular size pants, but in tops, I'm a 16-18, or sometimes 14-16. I'm kinda big busted, but just carry weight funny. :girl_hug: Keep up the great work!

Congrats VLB! I love shopping and finding that you're a smaller size :) I have a few suggestions for you...

You could find a cute pair of pants that fit really well in the waist area, and then spending $10-$15 to have the legs altered at a local taylor/seamstress. Fact of the matter is that we're all built different and I really think it's worth the extra money the get that perfect fit. You may only want to do one or two pairs of pants for the time being since you're still losing! :)

Also, I agree with Sweet, check out Old Navy and Gap. They're kind of "juniors" stores, but they have a huge variety of pant and jean styles. Check out the At-Waist Relaxed. Old Navy carries up to size 20s, and Gap to size 16 in store and 20 online.

Also, last but not least (sorry this is so long!), you may want to check out maternity jeans. I know that sounds funny, but if you think about it they're made for gals with skinnier legs and a bit of a belly.

Good luck and congrats again!

Why not opt for a skirt, or Pullazo pants? That way, you can buy something to flatter your smaller top and feel comfortable and sexy on the bottom, without giving up style!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
