Iggychic I am much better now. This happened 8-14 this year. I didn't have rapid weight loss at the beginning like most, I actually gained 5lbs at my first visit after surgery. I was so full of Fluid from the IV's. I'm on the right track now. As of today I am down 43 lbs!

I thank God I have not had a "major" complication, but at almost 4 weeks out I'm still having pain issues, which my surgeon cannot figure out. It is interfering with my quality of life and basic activities of daily living. I pray time will heal me and I will look back at this as a "bump in the road". I've had follow up blood work twice and an abdominal CT scan. Everything appears "mostly" normal. Complications take on different meanings when you're living them.

Amen to that! When you are the 1 in 400 your perspective on the odds changes significantly.

I hope they either figure your issue out or it dissipates soon. Thats a long time to feel ill.

But Angel you probably missed the dreaded 3 week stall (look on the good side LOL). My surgery was 8/23 and I was up 40lbs once when they did the morning weights in hospital. I looked like the stay puff marshmallow boy with exterior wiring (lots of tubes and lines). But you're rocking good health now :) Great job and I'm glad your "bump in the road" is over!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
