Recommended Posts

Ok I have been in the diet for about 9 days already I have my surgery next Monday and I was just wondering i am eating pudding sugar free will my liver still shrink?? I am following The no more the 50 grams of Protein a day no more then 40 grams of fat at day and no more then a 1000 calories a day. So will my liver still shrink if I keep eating the pudding??

you should be fine as long as it's the sugar free pudding.< /p>

I would just follow my doctors instructions. I'm at the start of a week on nothing but 5 Optifast shakes a day. Do I think my liver will still shrink if I added some actual food to that? Yes, but I'm doing what I've been told and sticking with it.

My doctor said for my pre-op diet to drink a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch, then I can have a lean Protein (chicken, fish, etc.) with a salad for dinner and then a protein shake at night if I need it. I am definitely EATING my dinner. ;)

My doctor put me on a low fat/low calorie diet

>\= 50 grams of Protein a day

No more then 40 grams of fat a day

No more then 1000 calories a day

So my basic meal a day is one pudding cup in the morning with a nature valley bar

lunch is 4 oz of chicken breast grilled with Lettus And crystal light and then the same for dinner if I get hungry I will eat a sugar free Popsicles

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
