I Start My 2 Week Liquid Pre Op Diet Tomorrow

Recommended Posts

I'm ready to get this next two weeks over so I can start my new journey. Going into the pre op diet I have lost 35lbs. How much did you guys lose during your pre op diets & did you continue to exercise during that time?

I lost 30lbs during my 3 mo insurance process, and I started liquids last Monday. So far on liquids I am down 11lbs! My surgery is next Monday, 10/22. The liquids for me were tough the first three days, but now it is just routien. The biggest thing for me to get through it is staying busy and going to bed early (my energy levels are shot).

Good luck on the next 2 weeks!

Wow you both are doing great! I haven't lost so much on the supervised diet and not sure how long I will need to be on the liquid diet. Not looking forward to it and hoping I can still function!!!

I'm sure you will do great. I'm a little nervous about it myself but I have work, a couple of projects, & exercise to keep my mind off it (hopefully). I also have support people who will kick my butt if I cheat.

Thanks! Good luck to you with your pre op and surgery. My plan is to try to stay busy also. I know it will probably be hard at first but so worth it in the end. I'm wanting to exercise to increase the weight loss but I'm worried about my energy level.

wow, if I had lost 35 lbs before liquids, I wouldn't of had to go on liquids. My surgeon requires 5% and I was at 9 not 12 so I had to do the liquids. if I had lost the 12, I would only of had to do it a few days before

My surgeon requires 2-4 weeks of liquid pre op regardless of past weight loss.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
