I have smoked cigs off and on for the last 15 years and have quit cold turkey every time I got preg with my kids. This last time I quit with the intention this time I was not going back until my little girl went to nicu I was very stressed and worried about her and was making myself sick. But held it together and she came home I breastfed till she was 7 weeks and doctor orders put her on formula' date=' for health reason I needed to get back on my medication. All that to say I only been back smoking now for 2 months I just was quitting cold turkey again but don't want to go back if I get stressed out again. Doctor said I have to quit no problem but any help to not start up again when stress hits would be nice.[/quote']

It's a daily struggle. My dad smoked till he had his first heart attack at 36yo. His doctors gave him the choice to quit or die, he chose to quit. He still acknowlages that 23 years later he gets tempted. You have to decide that you are stronger & more important than those little tools of death.

Well I cant afford to keep smoking i guess for now gum will be my best friend before sleeve and if urge still there straws although i cant see my self chewing on straws so just will have to tough it out the first 3 mths is my hardest time frame. But i have done it 4 times for 1 to 2 years at a time every time except this last time. So I know it can and will be done my motivator will be my kids and myself. I dont smoke around them at all thats not acceptable they didnt choose to smoke i did so i only smoke at night when kids are in bed and i can get in shower so i dont smell like cig smoke since i do have 4 mth old that was in nicu.

I too am a smoker. I quit 4 weeks ago this Friday. I went to the surgeon for what was to be my last appointment prior to surgery and they had already tested blood for nicotine several months prior and saw I had been smoking. I honestly lied to them and said I was only an occasional smoker(I was about half pack a day for past 15 yrs) and said I only had 1 cig in the past month. He looked at me and said even 1 cig a month? NOPE! postponed my last appointment by 12 weeks!!!!! :(

However, this is the motivation I needed to give it up for good and to stop lying to myself and someone who was only wanting what was best for me. So lying about it gets you no where and you will feel so much better. I did stop cold turkey and there has been times where it is hard but its only fleeting urges and they subside and I move on. If I can do it I know you can too. You have to decide what is more important. I wish you the best!

Some of my Vitamin levels were low(due to smoking)and I need to wait as well for them to replenish and get higher. Smoking takes its toll on so many processes in the body

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
