Hi Everyone. Im due to be banded soon (17.10) and went for my pre-op assessment today. I'm feeling excited and nervous - this procedure is not that common yet in the UK, and I dont know ANYONE personally who's had it done. So Im hoping you guys will be able to help me on my way !(please?).

I have to go on a Fat Free diet from now until the op - any good recipies / ideas that may help me with this?

I'm enjoying looking around the site, and am picking up stuff as I go, so hopefully I'll be a seasoned pro before I know it.

Take care

Julie

Hi Julie and welcome to LBT! Congratulations on your decision to get banded. I suggest checking out the food forum. There are stickies at the top for every stage of banding. We also have a reciepe forum that you may enjoy.

Hi Julie,

Yes, definitely check out the food forums. Just as a teaser though, my favorite fat free item is fat free black Beans with salsa and fat free sour cream with a little fat free cheese on top. It's good for the mushy stage too. YUM!

You're going to do great. Congratulations on making the decision to get banded.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
