I am just starting the process for the lapband procedure....I already know I will be self pay for sure and I was wondering if anyone could offer advice as to how they financed itl....and, home equity or 401k is not an option....I need a good financing company that gives good rates, any advice?

I am self pay but I had the money. I did however look into financing it because if the rates weren't too bad then I could afford the payments and still have the money in the bank.

I inquired with two Credit companies in Toronto, Ontario who finance for medical purposes. Both came in pretty close with their quotes but I can tell you this........If I had of gone with either one I would have paid for this procedure 3 times over by the time the loan was satisfied. Their interest rates were phenominal.....27%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....the payments were over $400 / month.

I couldn't find a financing company that would give me that good of a rate so I put it on a new credit card with 0% interest for 15 mos. I plan on transferring the balance to get it paid off. I definately don't regret paying for this. It was the best thing I have done for myself in a long time. Hopefully somebody will give you a good financing company. Good luck:)

I went threw capital one. And I only pay 139.0 mouth for 60 months and My inst. is about 10.38% only cause it was a personal loan. I did get another on and it was 7.9% but I could not go to MX to get it done. So I am only going to pay back exture 2000.00 unless I pay it off early and I will do that.

HOpe that helps

GOOOD LUCK

Hi! I originally was going to finance through carecredit at carecredit.com. They do financing for medical procedures. The rates are quite reasonable. There are options from 3 months financing or all the way up to 5 years if I remember correctly. I ended up getting only approved for 1/2 the amount because of my credit history. So now I'm doing financing through my parents. 0% interest for 2 years and reasonable grace period of 15 day lol. No seriously I had to sign a contract with them! Anyway, I would look into carecredit along with the other things people suggest. Good luck!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
