I'm in South Jersey was sleeved 05/06/2013 in Atlantic city by Dr. Patel. He and his staff made me comfortable through the whole process. Down 80lbs , 10 more to go. Only negative to the surgery was I had to have my gull bladder removed 8 months post op. No biggie though.

Im in south jersey, Pemberton, but was sleeved in Old Bridge by Dr. Mehta on 9/17/13. Down 74lbs so far. Would love to hear some experiences of others. I've been on the site for awhile, mostly just reading up on others experiences, haven't posted much. Figured i would try to participate more might learn a little. :-)

Hi all! I'm 4 weeks post op and 31 pounds down. I'm from the Bergen Co area. Good luck to all about to begin their journey. When you look back at the recovery you'll be able to say it was a piece of cake and we'll worth it!

I had the VSG in July and I have already lost 124 pounds.....all went so well....until, I felt a parathesia in October--went to ER in NYC....still have no feeling in my abdomen and inner portion of my thighs and legs....the worst part is now I have SEVERE and Intractable PAIN in my feet.....the neurologist did an EMG and a biopsy...all returned normal......the Vitamin level blookwork is also normal....no one know why this has happened....? In ready the mayo CLINIC and NIH website and journals......it seems that there are a small amount of people who have this issue...it might be related to a mal absorbtion issue......?The neurologist gave me neurontin...does not help.......anyoe else have these issues....?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
