Well got the results from my sleep study. I have moderate sleep apnea. They will deliver the cpap in a few days. Mask still freaks me out, but we shall give it a try...

Just think of it as one more "weight" to tip the insurance approval scale in your favor ;). And once you're approved, have surgery and lose the weight you probably won't need the machine anymore!

It is somewhat of an annoyance and does take a bit of getting used to. I still can only wear mine 2-3 hours a night and usually wake up and pull it off my face at some point. If you don't have a headboard to drape the cpap tubing over, I recommend getting a stand that slips between the mattress to hold the tube over the bed. Then you don't get tangled up in it! You can buy on Amazon for less than 15!

Good luck!!!

I got diagnosed with severe case of apnea. I got the CPAP and absolutely love it. I feel like a million bucks after sleeping with the machine. Plus another great side benefit is I can fart all I want and not smell it with the mask on. 8-)

I told my wife that when I got home with the machine and rolled her eyes.

I know the cpap is going to help. Especially with the fatigue since I have ms. I just don't know how well I'll handle the mask because of my phobia.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
