Onions Weird For Anyone.

Recommended Posts

I ate some diced onions with some garbanzo Beans, Edime (sp?) and some chives for lunch today. It king of burned a little and gave me dizzy spacey blacking out feeling. Lots of ringing in the ears. It is strange because I am pretty sure I have eaten some onions post op. maybe it was the chives, not sure. The sleeve was iffy about something.

You probably overfilled. What you described sounds like a vagal response. I get that when I overfill and put pressure on my vagal nerve. My daughter does not have this problem with her sleeve, so it is an individual thing. The surgeon repaired a hiatal hernia I didn't know I had, so that might be the difference between me and my daughter. Be careful with this. It can make you completely pass out. Google for information if you want. It sure makes me careful with eating too fast and too much. Kathe

Thanks for the information. I read all about it on Wikipedia and think a few of the trigger points apply to me. It might not have been related to eating too fast or too much, but may have been caused by other reasons like stress, prolonged siting or loss or sleep. All have applied in last week. It appears it is fairly benign unless you pass out and hurt yourself by hitting something on the way down. That being said, I do have a tendency to eat way too fast, working on that.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
