And I'm hungry, not sure if I'm really am hungry or if it's just in my head! Anything I try and eat comes right back up:( does any one have advise on what I should eat that won't make me sick?1last thing still no regrets can't want to see the ending results:)

Could be a little of both. Are you on a PPI (acid reducer?) This will help. Also, measure everything you eat (drink)

So for everything that comes up, eat or drink more slowly. I had same problem using old gulping habits. Was unable to tolerate mushies for 5 weeks. Have you tried a bite or two of applesauce? That was my first food. Next was soft frozen yogurt. Have you considered that you might have a lactose intolerance? I was intolerant for 4 months.

Take it slow and give your self time to heal. Also, looking up VSG diets online might give you ideas of what to soft foods try. I had a Decaf skinny vanilla latte (ask for a Protein shot & get soy milk if you are intolerant to milk) At least you will get in 15+ gm of protein.

Hugs, things will get better, I promise.

When I get hungry feeling I start sipping my protien shakes...curbs the head hunger and gets my liquids in. I do notice I like my sugar free popsicles and Tomato Soup from the box. I still struggle with foods that have texture. I am at 4 weeks and have been realeased to a regular diet. Although I am still eating soft foods. I get head hungry when I smell food.< /p>

How many protien shakes to u drink a day? I'm lucky if I drink 1. I was able to drink them the 2weeks in, but now 3 weeks out I struggle just getting one down.

Im almost 2 weeks post op, and i have been hungry like you too. I only have 1 shake a day but nothing seems to satisfy the hunger much. im not nauseated like you but maybe its because i eat really slow? i use 1oz cups and take my time so i usually dont consume much because it takes so long. yesterday i tried refried Beans and they went down ok. greek yogurt with the fruit strained is tasty.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
