So my surgery is 10/10/12 and I'm SO nervous. I've never had surgery before. I am nervous about being put under and dying! I know that's unlikely and I'd be worse off obese but I just want to wake up! I'm nervous about recovery but I know I can do it and it'll be worth it in the end. I guess I just need some more support right now.

My surgery is also scheduled for the 10th. I know how you are feeling and I have had other surgeries. I am one big ball of nerves right now. But we will be fine and it will be worth it! Good Luck to you!

Ladies-

My surgery was 3 months ago and I was a nervous wreck. The first week was not fun, I was pretty miserable due to pain from the gas they pump you full of. The good news? I was only uncomfortable for the first week and bounced back quickly. I can say at 3 months out that I would have the surgery again and again if I knew how good I would feel.

I will be praying for a quick recovering! Good luck!

Newbie

I'm wearing a scarlet S today for all the support you need

never having surgery, i can only imagine what your thoughts/fears might be

if you've never been "put under" - - OMG its a different/new experience

as you are on the stretcher going toward the OR - they will give you something to calm you down/nerves, after that was said to me, i didn't remember anything, either will you

anesthesia, you will be asleep,- take a nap - WLS is over , before you know it, you slept right through it!!

You will wake up in your room with nurses around you. you will have meds IV - you might be uncomfortable, in a little pain, gas, nautious - but these are things as sleevers we should be aware will/might happen post surgery

in my case, i had a little pain, no gas, vomitting etc.

don't dwell on the possibilities of problems, no complications - your recovery will go well

its totally understandable being nervous, wednesday will come and go, and you will have finally been sleeved

whats left now is the best long time forever journey of your life

ride the wave to a healthier happier new you in sleeveland

"nervous about being put under and dying"

don't worry about dying ok?,

dead men tell no lies

best of luck to you on Wednesday

If you have ever had a reaction while under, take the next day or so to get the information about what you were given, etc. to pass on to your current anest.

Other than that, breathe deep, and just let it go. It really is all that matters - be calm, one foot at a time.

God bless.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
