My Date Approaches And The Fear Is Starting To Set In ...

Recommended Posts

Hi all... My surgery is scheduled for Oct 22... I am now feeling fear and anxiety... but not about surgery problems or complications... my fear is: What if it doesn't work? What if I go through ALL of this - I start my Protein fast on Monday... get the surgery, am in pain, yadda yadda yadda... and I remain fat? It's a stupid worry, but that is my actual fear.

I can relate. I just keep reminding myself that as long as I follow the plan that there is no way I won't lose. It might take some time, and I'll try not to compare my rate of loss with anyone else's. Stay the course, vent if you need and stay on plan. I think it is very important to this entire process to voice fears and anxiety, and am happy you shared. Every time I think, I must be the only one to feel this way, I find a thread that lets me know I am not alone. Good luck!!

Fear is normal. All the what ifs are normal part of the process. I can relate, I'm having surgery in a few weeks too and the fear is starting to creep in. But as JerseyGirl said as long as we follow the program and do what we are suppose to do we will be okay. Don't set yourself up for negative thoughts even before you have surgery. Good luck and it will all be okay!

I worried this too. I even still sometimes worried it about 20 pounds out, like "Is this all I will lose? Maybe I will stall and not end up losing any more!"

But here I am over 50 pounds down and less than 3 months out. You will do great =)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
