Yes, it's all very normal. And yes, you can live on that little. You're doing great. As time goes by and your stomach starts healing and the swelling goes down, you'll be able to drink more and eat more. Right now you should be on a full liquid diet. Yogurt, Soup, cottage cheese, ricotta etc. At two weeks post op you can try mushy foods and see how that goes. Make sure you are taking your Vitamins and supplements!!!!!

What do your doctors say? I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital until I could take 30 oz of Fluid. Which took ALL DAY to accomplish. By day 4 I was over 60 oz. And we were only allowed Protein shakes, clear broth (no creamy), Water, Crystal Light, Decaf Tea, sugar free Jello and popsicles during week 1. Week 2 purée items and week 3 start introducing regular food.

I would go by how you are feeling. Are you dizzy or light headed? Could signal dehydration. Going to the bathroom regularly, etc? Let those answers guide you.

those first few weeks are such a struggle. i am five weeks out and am finally able to take normal size drinks of Water. i know it is extremely difficult to stay positive when you feel so weak. just keep up the sipping/small bites and you will make it!

I had a hysterectomy 14 years ago, so I'm lucky that at 42 I don't have to deal with that. I'm sure that adds to your not feeling well. Just try to take sips all day long. I did a shake first thing, then Jello and Popsicle. broth at noon, shake around 3, more broth for dinner around 6, then shake at 9pm. Takes maybe an hour for me to drink a 10oz shake. Sip liquids the rest of the day and I'm sure you'll do great. Just keep trying to increase a an ounce to 2 a day and you'll be there in no time. Remember, if you are keeping track that a Popsicle counts for 2 oz of Fluid, Jello is 4 oz, broth counts too. I would try to sip 4-6 oz at a time.

Hope this helps some.

I found sugar free Italian ice! Delicious but still only 4 baby spoons go down.

Where did you find it?

I'm 8 days out and still surviving on about the same. My acid reflux is out of control. I can't get anything down without feeling pain. Seen the doc today and he took me off pepcid and gave me a rx for 40mg of Prilosec and reglan. Have to give it a chance. If you're still feeling that way in a day or so, I would call your doc.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
