What Do You Use In Your Protein Shakes?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am just about about to start mixing up my own shakes but wondering what to use?

Milk, Water, ice or yogurt! I stopped drinking them cause I couldn't stand the taste, but got to find a way to get in the Protein, cause I've been trying to get in with food and its not doing the job!

If the powder doesn't work ill be making a trip to costco cause I hear the that they are great!

Thanks

I haven't had my surgery yet but I have been experimenting LOL... I really like the body fortress whey isolate vanilla that you can get at Walmart, its a huge container and one scoop is 60gms of pure 90% protien. This is what I do and it tastes like a shake ( I have a ninja )

1/2 scoop powder

1C unsweetened almond milk 40cals

6 ice cubes

Torani syrups any kind sugar free- optional

cinnamon-optional

instant coffee-optional

3-5 drops stevia-optional

frozen strawberries (or any frozen fruit)-optional

I also like Fage' greek yogurt with any frozen fruit a few drops of stevia and you have a high protien ice cream!

but with this you have to have a ninja to do it

Good Luck Stella! :D

I use 1 scoop vanilla Protein powder, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 2 tsp. sugar free butterscotch instant pudding mix and I tblsp. of no sugar added natural Peanut Butter. shake it up in my shaker cup, pour into an irish coffee glass and top with lite whipped cream. Pretty tasty, but I think more than one a day and it might be too "sweet"...

Mmm that sounds good... I shall try all of these, today I bought strawberry flavored soy milk, I'm gunna try that in them as well, my boyfriend couldn't drink enough of it said it was pretty good! It has 9 grams of Protein in a cup, is that good? Also has any one tried the soy milk and how does it agree with your sleeve?

I use soy milk and it works fine for me. I switch between soy and skim milk just for variety. My sleeve likes both.

Where do you buy the PB2 and the Torani sugar free syrups?

I have only seen PB online at Amazon. Maybe someone else has an idea.

Cost Plus World Market has a HUGE selection of Torani sugar free syrups! I actually picked up four today. Salted Caramel, pumpkin Pie, French vanilla and Peach. Someone has also mentioned a store called Cash N Carry, not sure about them only because I have never been!

My sleeve doesn't like skim milk. I have found that Silk soy milk is great and my family likes it also. For Protein powder, I really like the Unjury chocolate splendor the best. The only problem is its pricey and you have to order it online.

Great idea about the sugar free syrups. Sam's club carries these syrups right beside the coffee supplies. The brand that I use is DaVinci Gourmet. This brand is sweetened with Splenda. I think I will try the Kahlua flavor in some vanilla Protein powder. Thanks for the great idea!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
